Profile of the Consultant

In order to practise successfully the profession of the consultant, one needs more than just being well educated in a certain field. Education is only one of the main prerequisites. It is more important that such a person possesses a particular combination of partly contrasting qualities and skills:
  • Analytical thinking combined with the ability to present complex problems in a clearly structured, comprehensive and at the same time easy to understand way;
  • Freedom and agility of mind, related to the ability and readiness to permanently expand one’s experience over new fields of problems, that may be very different from the main educational background, as well as will to progress from a narrow professional to a generalist;
  • Ability and readiness to perform by oneself detailed and specific tasks on one hand (such as calculations, elaboration of tables, graphs, schemes and drawings, working with a computer and many other basic technical tasks), and on the other – to individually develop overall concepts and to present them convincingly in front of authoritative and high-ranking officials;
  • Ability and readiness to work both on one’s own and in a team and to be aware that there is no rigid hierarchy at the company (besides the company management) but rather a project-specific organisation of work and subordination;
  • Dignified, earnest and respectable demeanour not only in front of the clients but in general, as well as overall attitude and style that evoke confidence;
  • Readiness to travel and work in flexible hours;
  • Will for serious and devoted work;
  • And many other qualities…
